Functional Safety Events Radar — September 2026

September is already moving by the time this edition goes out. TÜV Rheinland’s Symposium: Functional Safety and Cybersecurity in Industrial Automation in Cologne and the industry-adjacent conference AIChE/CCPS’s Global Conference on Process Safety and Big Data in Frankfurt both run on 15–16 September, so we are treating them as already-covered carry-over items from the August edition, not full entries again here. This edition focuses on what is still useful to plan for: the rest of September and the full October window.

SAFECOMP is the September anchor for safety-critical systems, and with the event now days away, the practical question is which workshops to pick if you are going. The main conference (23–25 Sep) is single-track and on-topic throughout.
The workshop day (22 Sep) runs eight in parallel, so choose one by problem: AI assurance (DAIES, SASSUR, WAISE), safety-security co-engineering (SENSEI), human oversight (ORCAS), embedded and autonomous systems (DECSoS, SafetyNXT), or supply-chain cybersecurity (CSRIS, the one outside our scope).

October is thinner than September for dedicated functional safety events, but two core dates stand out late in the month.

TÜV SÜD Mobile Robotics Conference 2026

This is the most direct October fit for functional safety if your work touches autonomous mobile machinery, robotics, or AI-enabled machines. The event sits at the intersection of autonomous machines and safety-critical engineering spanning dual-use sectors.
